Charity Kit Winners

So sorry to disappear the last few days without news on the winners for the charity kit. My laptop hard disk went kapooey, 3rd one this year! And wrestling Colin away from his computer is no easy task :D Anyway, since there were only 3 entrants, I've decided to award them to all 3 of you.

Iamb, Adriana & Sara, could you pls send me your email addresses at    the3chickens at gmail dot com    as soon as you can & I'll purchase the Gifts Certs to send to you - Overflow with Beauty for Iamb & Adriana and Helping Hand  for Sara. Pls drop a note back to me either here (Comments or Chatbox) or email me once you've recvd the GC so I can follow up if there are any issues.  Congrats & thanks so much for joining in! Hope you'll enjoy the kits :)

pjoneil, this is Paula right? I don't have any of my files at the moment so I couldn't check for sure. It's wonderful to hear from you, thanks so much for the note! :) :) :)

I've just ordered a new laptop which hopefully will arrive in about 2 weeks time. My current one is older than Mac and been a real PITA the last couple years. I have someone ready to buy it off me & she only wants to use it for very basic stuff so it's a good deal for us both. After this last hdd crash, I decided not to take the trouble to re-do a new temporary hard disk and just wait for the new laptop to arrive. So I'll be without any of my files and bookmarks & rather than drag Colin away from his computer, I'll just stay offline till then.

Hope you all have a great weekend & hopefully I'll see you again in about 3 weeks time..!

090911 Freebie & Sales

FYI, this may be my last post till next Tues. I reckon we'll be out a lot but if I get the time to blog hop, I'll post whatever I manage to find. If not, I'll see you Tues.

Sorry I didnt manage to get this up yesterday, I was feeling somewhat under the weather, took a 'little' afternoon nap & wound up sleeping till 10pm. Working on this now while trying to get a LO done.

09-09-09 was a milestone birthday for me - I turned 20..... again :D I was reminiscing a little about the last "0" bday I had - 10 yrs ago on 09-09-99. There's such a huge difference, in my state of mind & priorities. I was newly single, had personal stuff going on & I was an emotional yoyo & drama queen. Now I have Colin & Mac & too lazy to get worked up over anything :) I got my fave gift ever though - 3 birthday cards from Colin, he said he couldnt think what to get :D It was so sweet, he wrote in all 3 cards part 1, 2 & 3 and even had a poem & it ended with a marriage proposal. (which while I didnt reject, I didnt accept either. Not till 3 years later. I'm slow in everything!)

These are some pics from a few nights ago when we treated a couple of our friends to dinner to celebrate. We went to try the new branch of our favourite Japanese restaurant. Love me some Japanese, cant believe I used to think they were gross! Most of the pics came out icky & I 'forgot' to get one of myself.

Those 2 are our best friends here & the only people we hang out with regularly. So any 'going out' photos will usually contain them :)
Mac loves playing with the chopsticks.
My usual order for Mac would be the miso soup, tamago sushi, chawan mushi and sometimes a garlic or fried rice. These are pretty much the only things he would eat, sadly, he seems to have inherited pickiness from me. Here he's enjoying the pudding, it comes with ice-cream :) One good thing about Mac though - he's not greedy (unlike his mama) & knows when he's had enough so cake, ice-cream, whatever, if he's already full, he's not interested.

This is Steph. Mac went over to sit with him & chattered non-stop for quite a while :D In the 2nd pic, Mac's doing one of his recent fave game "I want to tell you something" & then whisper whatever stuff he can think of at the time like 'I'm Optimus Prime' or 'I love biscuits'.

Fooling around with Mac on my birthday. Not the most flattering :D I took the pics upside-down & was extremely tempted to leave them that way!

K, going back to wrestle with my LO again :)

We may be going out of town in a few hours so I'll just go ahead to put up the few freebies I've found now. Note the word 'may' - I'm waiting for Colin to wake up to reconfirm. We havent even booked a hotel (or packed). He mentioned going to Labuan for the weekend last night but I was too engrossed in shopping at the time to pay attention :D Labuan (a Malaysian duty-free island about 1-2 hours from here by express boat) will be a new destination for Mac & will also be his first time on a boat so should be fun. If we do go, I'm not sure if we'll have internet so you may not hear from me till Tues.

Grace - surgery??! Is everything ok?? I hope you're recovering well... And thanks for reminding me about SFaire's sale - I had this niggling feeling I'd forgotten something!

Julia - thanks for explaining the casserole and frozen veggies :D

Finally got a bit of time! I'm getting my hair coloured as I type this, about time too - 2 inches of grey roots ain't a pretty sight :D

Hey there Fina, glad you came! Fina (or Sha as she prefers to be called now :D) is my one and only niece - she, my bro and SIL are the only family I have, apart from Colin & Mac of course, so the link's kinda precious to me :)

And I seeeee you... Grandma June! :) I've missed our 'arguments' :D

Ugh & kapooey! Would you believe I posted Kasia's sale but missed it myself?? I had my cart ready but didnt have time to hit the checkout button :(

PC troubles still abound, Mac still up at nights, scrapping mojo still nowhere in sight...

Oh and did you know there are actually SOAPS out there to enlarge a certain part of the male anatomy?!? It was my maid's birthday the other day and I was at the perfume store getting her a gift. While I was testing perfumes at the counter, I was wondering why Colin was so engrossed reading the soap labels at the soap aisle, heheh. I really doubt a $3 soap would be able to help (and no, he didnt get any :D)

As always, thanks much to all those who've left a comment, I love hearing from you :)

Thanks very much to all those who have left a comment - really appreciate it! It's nice knowing someone's been here :)

Grace - Mac's fine, just itchy and unfortunately, the itch is in an unmentionable place! We're still more or less on the up-all-night-and-sleep-in-the-morning schedule. The 8 hourly itch medicine has kinda made it more interesting since it makes him drowsy - so he wakes up at 1pm, gets his medication at 2pm and thereafter till 6-ish he just wants to lie in bed saying he's sleepy and of course mama must 'come sleep with Mac-Mac!' So we sleep the morning away, loll the afternoon away on the floor mattress watching TV and become owls at night! When TV catches his attention, I sneak off to the computer to snag a few freebie links till he catches me at it & summons me back to lolling duty. It's a grand life :D Anyways, sorry for blabbering on. I finally got all the blogs, I think, except for a few I accidentally closed and couldnt remember which it was so here's the rest of the list.

On top of current computer woes and most of my time spent backing up, Mac has a fungal infection - itch itch itch! And did you know that Outlook has a limit on your .pst file size??! After making backups to 3 different places, I finally dared to open it up to download my emails. And what do I get? A message that I have apparently hit the max size! Geez! Now on top of the other backups, I have to start going through all my mails and delete/archive. Will I hit the max on my excel spreadsheet next too??! whine, rant, whine, grumble, grumble!

My google reader is bursting at the seams with unread posts. Wont be able to go through them all soon but these are the first few I found - my apologies if some have expired, I started the list yesterday but didnt have the time to finish.

ARGHH!!!

Filmore, Filmore, Filmore!!! I now apparently cant even delete files! I just tried deleting older backup stuff from my other EHD to make room for the updated files and it told me it cant delete giving me some data redundancy cyclic check error! What the filmore is that??! AND to make matters worse, I was in the middle of copying a directory to another hdd when we had a short blackout, the 2nd one today. The first one was probably close to the last straw on this hdd's back. I'll have to give up backing up for now in case there's any more power trips and totally kill all my hdds :( Ugh!!! I'm just going to power down everything, go out bring Mac for a much-needed haircut and then figure out what to do next when we come back. Sorry for the whining...

A couple of challenges to note & a freebie from me

It's almost 6am and Mac has been up since midnight after going to bed at 10pm. He's always had a yo-yo sleeping pattern, settling on one for a couple of weeks and then changing it again. It wasnt as bad as this though previously.

He's now watching Elmo (which was showing a bicycle and of course Mac immediately insisted I had to go bring in his bike) while playing Play-Doh. Before that it was Barney while he played his marbles and before that he went through some of his toys one by one.

One side effect of this is I'm unable to start on any of my CT LOs. If I plan to scrap, night time after he's gone to bed is my usual time (if I dont fall asleep along with him) because I'm such a terribly slow scrapper & I need to know I have a long stretch of uninterrupted time before I can even get in a scrapping frame of mind. Over the last few days, I've started 4 and trashed 3 :( The 4th is only slightly less suckier than the others & I'm undecided on whether to trash it, continue trying to fix it or just close my eyes to its sheer suckiness, add the title, journal and post. If it's just for me, I might just do that but it's my first CT LO for my new site and that's such a terrible start!

Anyways, I thought the basic design isn't too bad, just my execution, so rather than have wasted my time totally, I turned it into a template. A template from a failed LO, hmmm gee, I wonder how many people will want it! LOL But still for what it's worth, this is the preview.

Link to download. And if anyone's interested in my pathetic unfinished effort, here it is in all its 'glory'! Good thing I have a cute son :D

Of special note:

1. Christina Renee has a Siggie freebie hunt with a freebie a day for 2 weeks starting Tues. Read the details in this forum.

2. Scrapblog is celebrating their 2nd anniversary and (a disclaimer please, I cannot be sure these details I gathered are in any way accurate since I dont speak Brazilian!) they have a challenge to get this awesome collab participation bonus (Gina Miller, Kate Hadfield, Amy Hutchinson, Lili & Ana Amorim are among some of the contributors) From what I can gather, the challenge is to
(1) do a 'celebrate' LO
(2) use a few of the techniques taught in the blog. The list of 5 techniques stated there are some you can use (1) detaching edges of photos and papers (2) shadow for acrylic (3) Mesclagem (blending) (4) writing in forms (5) filter wave
I'll have to admit I have NO idea how to do that since I can't understand the tutorials but if I do manage to find time to do it, I'll probably just use my own method for acrylic shadow and cross my finger it'll pass. I do not see a deadline or posting instructions or whether it's an 'open kit' challenge, but I'll keep an eye on the comments to see if anyone's posting LO links. If there's anyone who understands Brazilian, your translation would be very much appreciated!

OK, I need to go admire Mac's sushi chef skill - he's cutting up his playdoh fish and inviting my audience :D That and making stars and throwing away little bits of playdoh because they're "jik-jik" (dirty) seems to afford him the most amusement in this playset! I'll try to compile & post some more freebie finds and sales if he decides to go back to watching TV. If not, I'll probably be late cos I'd have fallen asleep with him.

Later!

Away on holiday & some freebies finds to share

We're on our usual weekend holiday now in Miri. Not a super day for me cos I was feeling unwell the whole time but Mac had scads of fun in the pool and field :) As usual, I took another gazillion photos similar to the ones I took the last 6 or 7 trips, even down to the clothes :D Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow, or rather today since it's now 2.30am. I had an early night and just woke up and couldnt get back to sleep so I figure I'll share a couple of freebie finds I managed to get. My CC is now officially maxed out so no more shopping until next month - I had to miss Scrapartist's $1 Friday and will miss all of next weeks $1 days :( There's an excruciating pain in that thought that only other extreme bargain-oholics and sales-aholics can understand :D Before leaving for Miri, we met up with my brother's family & friends who were transitting here for a couple of hours on their way to New Zealand for a holiday. He'd lost 35 (!) kg on a low-carb diet - I am amazed at his willpower! I'll be sharing some pics after we're back home. Anyway, these are some nice finds.

A little addon freebie from: http://creashens.typepad.com

I think these would be quite useful: http://kimbsdesigns.blogspot.com/2008/05/friday-wooohooo.html
This week's freebie from ksharonk: http://artisticmusings.typepad.com/artistic_musings/2008/05/and-now-for-som.html
I adore this one. It's in Digitals Bonus Downloads (2nd row down) - http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/galleria/showgallery.php/cat/796 & you have to be registered to download it. I found it a bit of a hassle registering cos you have to wait to be approved - I hate it when sites do that - but I thought this was too cute to pass up.

There may be more - I have 77 more entries in my google reader which I dont have time to sort through yet.

I guess I should try to catch some sleep again now. In case there's anyone still lingering around here, have a nice day! :)

Erm...WOW!

I actually had a couple hundred people traipsing through here to dl my feeble little wordart! All I was hoping for was maybe a dozen or so who may like it. Thanks so much to everyone for taking the time to download and double thanks to those who commented. You're all very much appreciated :) :) :) Heh heh, this freebie-giving thing can get addicting - perhaps I should try to get some Fathers quotes done :D

Hey there to Reba, Julia, Jill, Beth and Doris :) So pleased to have you guys visit. Sorry Reb & Julia - I never noticed the comments you guys left waaaayyy back - I must've deleted the email along with the 500 junk email I get & since I wasnt expecting visitors, I never check the comments!

I'm too lazy to look through my pics now to post one of Mac so I'll post my most recent LO instead (recent being about 10 days ago!).

OK, it's noon and we pretty much just woke up! Mac finally fell asleep around 4.30. I guess I should go brush my teeth or something.. Cheerio for now!

Mac, Freebies, Bargains

It's 3am now and this is what Mac is doing. He slept at 10pm, woke up at 1am and been up till now. I dont know what phase he's going through but this has been happening too frequently over the last couple of weeks. I must be the only mother of a 2.5 year old with EYEBAGS :( So much for finishing up the journaling on my photos - it's hard to concentrate when every 2 min or so, a little boy asks you to "sing mama! sing do-re-me-so-fa" :D Barney is entertaining him right now, taking over Lightning 'the-queen'.

Freebies for today:

I'll see how long I can keep this up. It's so much easier than actually writing stuff and I'm so bad at using my stash, freebie or otherwise, they may as well decorate my blog and not just my directories! Gorgeous kit from retrodiva: http://www.digitalscrapbookingfreebies.com/

I'm trying not to download any more pink stuff but this is so cute and there's enough blue and green to use. I esp love the swirl and the patterned papers. Got this at: http://heyitsjustme-krista.blogspot.com/

More wedding templates from: http://simplysarahdesigns.blogspot.com/

Cute doodles from http://www.feifeistuff.blogspot.com/

Raffia element from doudou60 - http://scrapliline.over-blog.com/

Mini kit from Tangie Baxter: http://tangiebaxter.typepad.com

Shopping!

It's Thursday & there are bargains galore! Unfortunately, it'll be more window-shopping for me since I think I have less than $5 left in my CC limit after the salesaroo-demon possessed me during NSD :(

20% New Release Day at http://www.thedigichick.com/ & I didnt even take a peek cos I didnt want to cause myself 'pain' :D I'll need to restrain myself from all New Release sales and hope to catch up again during the next big sale..

Can't believe I have to pass up Gina Cabrera's new kit at only $2.99 today (22nd). Sigh... http://www.ddecd.com/Samples/Penelope/Penelope.html
It's $1 Thurs at http://www.funkyplaygrounddesigns.com/store & I'm allowing myself 2 miserable dollars to spend there. There are lots of goodies today. Definitely getting the Iphaligio kit by Lauraskathi. She has another kit offering at $1 - Julia - but sadly I have to let that one go for now since it's mostly pink. I heart Lauraskathi - not only is she an awesome designer but very generous as well as she often offers $1 and 50% sales. I now have to decide on 1 between these. It's a toughie:(

Luckily, I already have Rachel Young's Paper Towels & Kim Christensen's Thrift Chic.

Ah! Designs just started Happy Hour Thursday offering 1 kit at 50% off. I've already bought today's offering during NSD but in case anyone's interested, it's worth a visit :) http://www.amyhutchinsondesigns.com/shoppe/

I popped into http://weedsandwildflowersdesign.com/shoppe to see what they have for Dirt Cheap Thurs & quite relieved to see it's only 33% off on a bunch of items. A good bargain but not too hard to resist. Now if Follow Your Bliss was 60% off, I'd be killing myself :D

K, gotta go sing again now!!
